Red Fort
The massive fort was built during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Made of red sandstone the fort is the location from where the Prime Minister of India addresses the country men every Independence Day. The Fort houses the palaces like the Diwan-e-khas and Diwan-e-am and the weaponry museum.
Qutab Minar
The monument was built during the rule of Sultan Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1199 A.D. This 72.5 metre high minar stands as a symbol of the Delhi Sultanate. Qutab Minar is a fine example of Afghan architecture.
Humayun's Tomb
Hamida Begum wife of Humayun, built this tomb in 1556. Set on a platform amidst a garden, this tomb is an example of early Mughal architecture.
Jama Masjid
One of the biggest mosque in India was built during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The Indo-Islamic style mosque is built of red sandstone and white marble. The mosque has a large courtyard, onion domes and central tank.
Rashtrapati Bhawan

India Gate
This 42 metre high arch is situated on Rajpath. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens in memory of the Indian soldier who lost their life during the World War first. The names of the soldier can be seen inscribed on the arch. An eternal flame known as the Amar Jawan Jyoti burns in the memory of unknown soldier. India Gate is an ideal picnic spot as it is surrounded by green lawns, fountains and water bodies.
Lotus Temple

Taj Mahal
The principal landmark of the city is famous for its beautiful look. Designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1983, the monument is one of the seven wonders of the world. The mausoleum was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal. It houses the graves of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
Agra Fort
The dominating structure of Agra city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Made of red sandstone, the fort is also called as the Red Fort of Agra. Emperor Akabr started the construction work of the fort in 1565, later on Shah Jahan renovated and converted the fort into a palace. The famous buildings inside the fort complex are Jehangir's Palace, Diwan-e-Am and Diwan-e-Khas, Pearl Mosque, Khaas Mahal, Sheesh Mahal (Mirrored Palace) and Musamman Burj etc.
Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb
The tomb was built by empress Nur Jehan for her father Ghiyasuddin Beg, the Chief Minister of Emperor Taj. Small in comparison to other tombs of Mughal era, the tomb is sometimes called as the Baby Taj. Described as th jewel box the tomb has known for its garden layout ans use of white marble, Pietra dura, inlay designs and lattice work.
Sikandra
The small town of Sikandra is located at a distance of 4 Kms from Agra . Akbar's tomb is the main attraction here. Akbar started the construction of the tomb while he was alive and his son Jehangir completed it. Similar to the Taj Mahal in some of its design, the tomb has a large arched entrance and green lawns. The entrance has been decorated with marble inlay work around the arch. The inner surface of the tomb's dome is decorated with figures of flowers, geometric designs and Islamic calligraphy.
Fatehpur Sikri
Located at a distance of 35 Kms from Agra this is yet another World Heritage Site. Built predominantly in red Sandstone the city was developed between 1571 and 1585. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the best examples of Mughal architectural style. Though the city is mostly in ruins but it presents the culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Fathehpur Sikri houses the famous monuments like Dargah Of Sheikh Salim Chisti, Diwan-I-Am, Diwan-khana-I-khaas, Turkish Sultana's House,The Treasury.

The City Palace
The palace also known as Sawai Jai Singh's Chandra Mahal ( Moon Palace ) is located in the heart of the city. Built in a blend of the Rajasthani and Mughal styles, this is the former residence of the royal family. The royal family still lives in a portion of this palace, while other portions have been converted into the the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. The museum has a huge collection of rare manuscripts, Rajasthani and Mughal miniatures, Carpets, Costumes and Textiles, Arms and Weapons etc. Other attractions inside the palace are a pair of Gangajalis and Govind Devji Temple , dedicated to Lord Krishna.
Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar is situated across the road from the City Palace . Principally a stone observatory, Jantar Mantar is one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. A collection of complex astronomical instruments, chiseled out of stone- most of which still provide fairly accurate information to this day.
Hawa Mahal ( Palace of Winds )
Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the Hawa Mahal is a major landmark of Rajputs. The five storey building overlooks one of the main streets and provides breathtaking views of the Pink city. The monument was originally built with an aim to enable ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday activities on the streets.
Amber Palace
The place set amidst a picturesque surroundings presents an amazing mixture of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Amber is a beautiful complex of palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples built by Raja Man Singh, Mirza Raja Jai Singh and Sawai Jai Singh over a period of about two centuries. The attractions inside the palace complex are Jai Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas and Ganesh Pole. The old township of Amer lies at the foothills of the palace and it has the attractions like Jagat Shiromani Temple , Narsingh Temple and other places of tourist interest.
Jaigarh
The fort built in 1726 is also called as the Fort of Victory. The fort houses the world's largest cannon on wheels and a museum. The fort provides excellent views of the Amer Palace and foothills of the Aravalli range.
